Class Descriptions
COMBINATION (tap & ballet)- young dancers ages 4-7 in 2 levels working on basic tap
and pre-ballet. After the 2nd level is finished the student takes straight tap and/or ballet classes. Level 1 for 4-5 year olds is 3/4 hour in length and level 2 for 6-7 year olds is
1 hour. Black tie tap shoes and pink ballet slippers worn.
BALLET- technical class doing barre and centre. Intro to Ballet is 3/4 hour in length up to advanced which is 1 1/2 hours. Pink ballet slippers worn.
JAZZ- student must be at least 9 years old to take jazz. Technical class does warm up including isolations and stretching and then works on co-ordination, turns and jumps.
Lower levels 3/4 hour in length up to advanced which is 1 1/2 hours. Warm up is done
with bare feet. Black oxford jazz shoes required for lower levels. Int. Jazz and up uses
tan bootie jazz shoes.
TAP- Technical classes starting at age 8 working on clear tap sounds including time
steps, wings and turns. Lower level classes 3/4 hour- upper levels 1 hour in length. Black tap shoes required. The Int tap classes and up wear tan buckle tap shoes.
LYRICAL- jazz with touches of ballet. Student must have had at least 1 year of Intermediate Jazz and take a technical jazz class also. Level 1 is 1 hour, advanced
1 1/4 hour in length. Warm up done with bare feet. Tan lyrical shoes worn.
POINTE-many years of technical ballet classes required. Students must be in at least
6th grade. Technical ballet class must be taken also. Pink pointe shoes used.
CLASS ATTIRE-Leotards, tights and appropriate shoes must be worn. Hair pulled back
so neck can be seen. No unattached skirts may be worn by students. The teacher
must be able to see if the student's body is working correctly.
